The Story

As we we’re nearing the end of our stay in Moab, Utah, we started researching some places near or around Durango. It was going to be our next destination as Telluride had been dealing with some nasty weather and we didn’t want to chance it. We found this cool RV Park called ‘The Views’ and we reached out to them to see if they wanted to be part of the Wander in the West story. They did! So we went. 🙂

Matt and his wife Wendy, bought the place back in September of 2016. It used to be an old mobile home park and it’s on some prime location. I was blown away by all the incredible destinations that are all less than two hours away from The Views RV Park. Check this out:

  • Mesa Verde National Park – 23min
  • Canyons of the Ancients National Monument – 43min
  • Hovenweep National Monument – 49min
  • Durango, Colorado – 56min
  • Telluride, Colorado – 1hr 27min
  • Ship Rock, New Mexico – 1hr 39min
  • Moab, Utah – 1hr 49min

In just a couple of days we we’re able to check out a local Anasazi Museum, along with Mesa Verde, Canyons of the Ancients and Hovenweep. It was really cool to learn more about the local Pueblo people and how they used to live. Things have changed a bit since then.

In addition to all of the above, The Views has a local reservoir nearby called McPhee Reservoir, and plenty of hiking and mountain biking trails dot the area like the local favorite MTB spot, Phil’s World.

We loved how insanely clean The Views RV Park was. From the grounds that we’re being mowed on a daily basis, to the restrooms and laundry room which we’re top notch and brand spanking new. One other thing that makes a huge difference is that the individual spots you stay in are located out of the way of your neighbors so you feel like you have total privacy. Which is always a good thing.

All-in-all we loved our stay at The Views and can’t wait to go back next year and see all the progress Matt and Wendy have made!
